BioTeSys is a service company specialized in analyzing biological functions of active ingredients. We investigate products and substances in relation to their functional components in order to identify their potential bioactive uses. Achieved additional effects can be evaluated and enhanced with appropriate components.
BioTeSys GmbH was founded in Esslingen, Germany, in 1999. It is a spin-off of the Institute for Biological Chemistry and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Hohenheim. As a complete service provider in the field of biological and chemical analysis, the company provides an exceptional range of services, including developing new procedures and products at the customer’s request. A motivated team of young and skilled staff members – in constant contact with leading universities – as well as state of the art facilities ensure that we will continue to be able to get to the bottom of things, now and in future.

The choice of technology includes screening methods covering the detection of bioactive potential of substances and their mixtures, in vitro test systems based on single cells, cocultures or organotypic models as well as the design, performance, monitoring and validation of clinical trials. All used measuring methods and parameters are developed and optimised according to physiological guidelines. Therefore the results and obtained properties are valid with respect to their biological impact.

We identify and characterize biologically active substances in nutrition, cosmetics, and consumer health care. BioTeSys offers a full analytical program including screening methods covering the biochemical analysis of the bioactive potential of substances and their mixtures, in vitro test systems based on single cells, cocultures or organotypic models as well as the design, performance, monitoring and validation of clinical trials.
The range of our services reaches well beyond pure analysis – it is customer oriented and designed on a modular basis. The modules can be individually adapted to the costumer’s needs. They can be used individually or step by step, as well as in full. It is a unique and comprehensive service that makes it possible to respond rapidly to experimental results, ensuring flexible and transparent planning of experiments.
The use of a quality management system with integrated project management and investigative tools ensures that the project is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Cell Culture Practice (GCCP). ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation of the analytics was successfully done in 2003.
